Biography

Dr. Glen Ross is the chief of the Shoulder and Elbow Surgery at New England Baptist Hospital, where he has been on staff as an attending orthopaedic surgeon for 24 years. Additionally, he is chief of the Sports Medicine division, and the co-director of the Sportsmedicine fellowship at NEBH. Dr. Ross is on staff at Boston Outpatient Surgical Suites, and consults at Mount Auburn Hospital. He is both the founder, and director of the New England Shoulder and Elbow Center within Boston Orthopedics & Spine.

Dr. Ross holds academic appointments as Assistant Clinical Professor at Tufts University School of Medicine, and at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Dr. Ross has lectured extensively, both domestically and internationally. He has authored over 60 journal articles and chapters throughout his career, with continued involvement in orthopaedic research.

He is a member of several specialty societies, including the American Society for Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, Arthroscopy Association of North America, Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. His honors include several teaching awards and numerous Navy service medals. In 1998, he received a Neer nomination, recognizing his work in elbow studies. Dr. Ross has been featured in both “Best of Boston,” and Castle-Connolly’s “Best Orthopaedic Surgeons in America.”

Dr. Ross is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. After earning his medical degree from Duke University, he completed his fellowship at New England Baptist Hospital. He is a Navy veteran of 24 years, and held the rank of Captain in the Naval Medical Corps Reserve.

A specialist in shoulder and elbow disorders, as well as Sports Medicine, Dr. Ross has research and clinical interests in upper extremity injuries, and conditions. He has extensive experience in treatment of shoulder arthritis, rotator cuff injuries, shoulder arthroscopy, replacement, and instability. His elbow expertise includes disorders of tendons and ligaments, arthritis, and elbow arthroscopy. Dr. Ross has a large experience with workman’s compensation injuries, and has served as a consultant to the Boston Fire Department for shoulder injury evaluation.
